Hi Everyone! How are you? Hopefully all of you are in a good health during this Syawal. wish you Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!!!
I'm Nurul Izwa bt Mansor (author of this blog) and now is studying at UiTM Puncak Alam, Bachelor in Pharmacy in year two.

Dear all, the Society of Pharmacy Students (SOPHYS) UiTM is organizing a charity program "Insight Charity Project" which will be held in Cambodia on this coming 24 October-1 November 2012. InsyaAllah, may Allah facilitate our project. We are targeting to help our Muslim brothers in Croimenteri Village in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

As for introduction, the Muslim community in Cambodia known as Champa has been based in Cambodia. Upheaval, civil war, occupation and political instability caused many of them became refugees. Around the year 1975 the total Muslim population in Cambodia is around 150 000 to 200 000. Cambodia is now re-growing Muslim community. Their number increased to 500 000 of the total of about 15 million people in Cambodia. The majority of Muslims in the country are ethnic Malay Champa. Instead of using Khmer language, which is the national language, everyday they also use Malay Champa. Since they are the minority, coupled with the political environment in Cambodia is less stable, the life of the Muslim community in the country is difficult. Majority of Muslims in Cambodia worked as fishermen and farmers and most of them live in poverty.

The Muslim community in Cambodia are facing a backward situation in education, especially Islamic studies due to poverty and lack of government support. In addition, educational facilities and teaching staff were limited and the students had to complete their studies earlier. However, Muslim population, they are always looking for opportunities to get help, especially for the future education of their children in this country.
